Splash Me Happy 2 is an extension of the Splash Me Happy series, emphasising exuberance and passion in a dynamic abstract work. The series reflects ideas of perseverance and the maintenance of positive energy during times of difficulty in particular to the international pandemic, in which Splash Me Happy 2 was created in the aftermath with motivations of empowerment, happiness and endurance. The work uses bold, black brush strokes reminiscent of calligraphy techniques that contrasts with the dynamic splashes of paint in vibrant palettes of reds, oranges and blues on a white surface. The diverse colour composition and application techniques highlights the complexities of such experiences, incorporating the outwards motion of such colours that overcomes the sharper, dark strokes. While the grand size engulfs the viewer in this vivid expressionist painting, it also provides engagement through depth with its mixed media techniques, further alluding to the intricacies of human emotions and experiences.
